LOWER TONTO RUINS,
In central Arizona are the Upper and Lower Tonto ruins. These are some of the best
and most protected sites in Arizona.
Here the ‘Old Ones’ looked out on the wide lands below their perch in the sky. So
too, here they could look into the clear night skies from their perch.
They stood ever vigilant, always searching for any sign of enemies, for any sign
of returning family members, or any wandering game.
At night, they stood searching the sky for the movement of the stars and for the
‘stars’ that move.
The Lower Tonto ruins remind me of a kiva in the sky.
Thank you to the ‘Old Ones’ who are the builders of this place,
UPPER TONTO RUINS,
The Upper Tonto Ruins open but once a year, they are one of the most sacred sites
In many Native worlds across the globe, the tribal shamans spend their lives trying
to see and take in the spirits of the Other World into their chest. These spirits
take the form of tiny lights.
In a forbidden chamber in the Upper Tonto Ruins, the spirits of the Old Ones come
forward as tiny lights ...in the bright noon day sun.
I see the shaman’s lights...
In ancient societies, these lights were called ‘fairies’ or angels, and even gods
or goddesses. In anyone’s world, they are the ‘Ancient Ones’.
I am a simple man. I just want to say ‘Thank-you’.
And I ask for more. I want to know what the ‘Ancient Ones’ knew.
I am fortunate to be here.
If they appear, and if I listen carefully...
